Our first National Stationery Show, May 2016
Last month I exhibited for the first time at the National Stationery Show, a trade show at the Javits Center in New York. The show is not open to the general public (only to retailers looking for products to stock in their shops), so I thought it would be fun to share some photos of my booth here on the blog.
The show was a LOT of work to do, but so much fun. The feeling I had seeing all my work on display in the little world I created for it and sharing it with a whole new audience of smart, interesting people who love printmaking and paper as much as I do is hard to describe. I had wonderful conversations, made new friends and learned a lot about the people who are responding to the work I'm doing with Heartell.
Since the show, there are about 50 stationery shops, bookstores, museum gift stores and boutiques carrying Heartell cards and prints across the US and Canada (see the expanded stores list here to find one in your area!). I also released new cards, boxed notes and lots of prints at the show. Scroll down to see photos of them in the booth, or see what's new in the shop here.
The theme of the booth was "A Quiet Place," inspired by this new friendship card.

The show can be tiring for retailers who walk it (the Javits is huge and the show lasts four days) so people enjoyed taking a rest on my bench.
I am so grateful for the help I had from friends and family, especially my sweet parents who came all the way from Utah to help me set up and give me lunch breaks during the long show days.
My lifelong dream has been to support myself with my art work, and doing NSS was a big leap in the process of realizing that dream. I am so grateful to have had this wonderful opportunity.
