Heartell Shop Visits: Bookstore Edition
It is hard to describe the thrill I get when I have a chance to travel to a new city and visit a shop for the first time and see my designs on the card racks. And when the shop is an independent bookstore, after I have taken my nerdy selfies and expressed my overwhelming gratitude to the shop's staff (I try to keep the awkward hugs to a minimum but sometimes I can't help myself), it is a glorious feeling to browse the shelves and get inspired by all the creativity, wisdom and knowledge on offer.
In celebration of Independent Bookstore Day, I'm happy to announce that we have a brand new store locator tool on our website. You can put in your zip code and find local shops that carry Heartell cards and gifts, as well as books of all kinds and even delicious things to eat.
We work with some incredible shops run by creative, interesting people. There are stores that sell only cookbooks like Book Larder (see below for more details!) in Seattle, WA, Archestratus in Brooklyn, NY, and Omnivore in San Francisco. There is a romance bookstore call The Ripped Bodice and a bookstore dedicated to the work of the poet, farmer and environmental activist Wendell Berry. I could not be more proud to have a small place in all of these havens of knowledge and inquiry and I'm so glad it will be easier for us all to find each other because of this new tool. Here are some photos from trips I've taken to visit some of our bookstores. I'd love to hear about your adventures and favorite bookstores, please comment below and tell me about your cherished places!
